MetroHealth's board voted to terminate the contract of its president and CEO Airica Steed, EdD, RN, on Aug. 9, due to performance issues. Dr. Steed said she was "unlawfully terminated" while on approved medical leave and offered a different explanation for the board's actions in a press release from her legal team.

John Harris, the CEO of Las Cruces, N.M.-based Memorial Medical Center, is retiring this month, The Las Cruces Bulletin reported Aug. 8. 

David Clay, CEO of Key West, Fla.-based Lower Keys Medical Center, will retire at the end of September after a 40-year healthcare career.

Philadelphia-based Temple Health's executive vice president and chief human resources officer, John Lasky, will join New York City-based Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Sept. 3 as chief people officer. 

Jay Quebedeaux was promoted to president of regional hospitals for Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health. 

Ron Baker has been appointed senior vice president of operations and clinic enterprise for Lawrence, Kan.-based LMH Health.

ECU Health North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., has selected Dennis Cambell, RN, to serve as interim president while a search is underway for the next permanent president. 

Mark Flakne has been tapped as CFO of Included Health, a healthcare services company.

Steve Shattls is on administrative leave as president and CEO of Huntington, W.Va.-based Valley Health Systems, the system confirmed to Becker's via emailed statement.

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare has made leadership changes throughout its hospitals this year. The system operates 52 hospitals across the U.S., according to its website.

Leonard Hernandez, CEO of Arkansas City, Kan.-based SCK Health, is no longer with the organization, a move which took effect following an Aug. 6 board meeting.

Lexington, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare has appointed two new hospital CEOs.

Drew Talbott, president of Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan., will retire Aug. 30, one day before the hospital transitions to ownership by St. Louis-based Mercy.
