Appalachian system names hospital, regional CEOs

This week, Hazard, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare appointed two CEOs: one to oversee a region, one to oversee a hospital.

On Jan. 24, the system named Richard Roehr CEO of its Kentucky River and Cumberland Valley regions, overseeing six hospitals. He joins Appalacian Regional from Amita Health Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Ill., where he served as president and CEO, according to a news release. 

Todd Howell was selected to lead Beckley (W.Va.) ARH Hospital effective Jan. 29, per a second news release. He most recently served as vice president of professional services for South Hill, Va.-based VCU Health-Community Memorial Hospital.
