Wellesley, Mass.-based Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Ride Health announced on Dec. 5 a collaboration to offer Medicare Advantage members in the region free non-emergency medical transportation.
Through the partnership, beginning Jan. 1, 2020, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Medicare Advantage members in Massachusetts and New Hampshire will be able to arrange up to 24 rides per year to and from medical appointments and other health-related locations at no cost.
The rides will be managed within the Ride Health platform, which features a member portal for scheduling rides; real-time ride monitoring; and a dedicated support team for confirming benefit eligibility and scheduling transportation.
"We believe this innovative transportation program will help to improve health outcomes for our Medicare Advantage members by reducing transportation barriers that impact their ability to access quality healthcare," Bill Graham, senior vice president of Medicare Business for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, said in the announcement.
