2019 healthcare job growth outpaces 2018

Healthcare added 28,100 jobs to the U.S. economy in December, with hospitals contributing 8,800 positions to that total, according to the latest jobs report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The December count is a decrease from November, when healthcare added 45,200 jobs.

Last month's job growth was mostly in ambulatory healthcare services, which added 23,100 jobs. 

Overall, healthcare added 399,000 jobs in 2019, compared with a 350,000 boost the year prior, according to the bureau.
