Residents of Oktibbeha County, Miss., will vote whether Starkville, Miss.-based OCH Regional Medical Center will continue operating as a county-owned hospital Nov. 7, according to a Daily Journal report.
Proponents of selling the county-owned hospital to a larger system argue it will help OCH Regional Medical Center retain operations as reimbursement pressures mount. Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care and Tupelo-based North Mississippi Health Services submitted proposals to buy OCH Regional Medical Center.
However, opponents of selling OCH Regional Medical Center — including the hospital's board of trustees — claim it provides quality services at the lowest cost possible, the Daily Journal reports.
