Christus Health acquires Good Shepherd Health System

Irving, Texas-based Christus Health signed an agreement to acquire Longview, Texas-based Good Shepherd Health System.

Under the terms of the agreement, GSHS and its subsidiary medical centers will be rebranded as Christus Good Shepherd Health System. Christus Health will also absorb Longview-based Good Shepherd Medical Associates, the health system's multispecialty physician group, into its own group, Christus Trinity Clinic, in Tyler, Texas.

Todd Hancock was appointed market president and CEO of the rebranded organization and Jason Adams was appointed COO.

"This is a day of celebration for our new health system and for the people of east Texas. Today, we bring together two great, [nonprofit] organizations who share the same commitment to providing high quality healthcare and improving the health of the communities we serve," said William Huffman, chair of the board of directors of Good Shepherd Health System. "We are delighted to join Christus Health and excited to carry on our proud tradition of caring for east Texans."
