Providers need to 'recognize the value and strength patients hold,' says Zotec's Carrie Moneymaker

In this special Speaker Series, Becker's Healthcare caught up with Carrie Moneymaker, vice president of solution design at Zotec Partners.

Ms. Moneymaker will speak at Becker's Hospital Review 7th Annual CEO + CFO Roundtable in a session titled "What's Missing From Your Patient Engagement Metric?" at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Learn more about the event and register to attend in Chicago.

Question: What keeps you excited and motivated to come to work each day?

Carrie Moneymaker: I am very fortunate to work with an amazing company and team members who are always looking forward. We are innovative and passionate. I adore that, collectively, we are working to support the industry, lighten the burden so healthcare providers can focus on clinical care while advancing the transparency to patients and providers with technology and people.

Q: What is one piece of professional advice you would give to your younger self?

CM: I would tell my younger self to be authentic, always. BE YOURSELF. Listen to your gut and don't be afraid to speak up with questions and ideas.

Q: What do you see as the most vulnerable part of a hospital's business?

CM: Providers and systems need to recognize the value and strength patients hold in this consumer-minded, social media age. With the continual increase of high deductible health plans and the ability to shop practices and health systems, hospitals cannot lose sight of providing options for patients to create a well-balanced, positive experience from start to finish and everything in between — from admission, to sanitation, to clinical care to revenue cycle management.
