Job opportunity: Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

This is a unique opportunity to join South County Health in our 100th year, under new leadership, as we begin to implement our next century strategic plan.

The Vice President and Chief Operating Officer develops progressive systems of operation and accountability, integrating best practice operational excellence and Lean methodology to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the healthcare system. The COO provides meaningful input into the development of the strategic plan, bringing strategic concepts through development, and adapting the organization leading initiatives to ensure the reliable execution of the plan, consistent with South County Health’s mission, vision, and values. The COO leads operational direction across all operating entities and develops organizational policy, in collaboration with the other members of the Executive Leadership Team, providing guidance, management direction and course corrections to achieve distinguished performance consistent with healthcare systems in top decile nationally. He/she is responsible and accountable for achieving benchmark performance in critical operational areas that will help drive the organization’s excellence and performance, establish competitive market position, and achieve financial success. This highly-visible leader acts as chief of staff, ensuring continued operational effectiveness through organizational change and transitions and acts as a strong advocate for South County Health within the healthcare system, its local community, with state and local governmental agencies, and with other healthcare organizations.

The position of Vice President & Chief Operating Officer represents an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic health care executive to impact the future of South County Health and the communities it serves. An advanced degree in business administration, healthcare management, or related field is required. Minimum of ten years of hospital leadership experience with demonstrated success and expertise in operations management, including past successes improving quality, financial performance, market share, growth, service levels and staff engagement.

Possessing high energy and integrity, the successful candidate will be a creative and optimistic thinker with excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills, and accomplished in producing results in a resource-efficient environment. A strong community orientation and a high degree of interest in operational leadership essential.
