Texas' Southwestern Medical Center Cutting 350 Jobs

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is cutting 350 jobs, approximately 250 of which were vacancies, according to a Dallas Business Journal news report.

The other approximately 100 hospital employees were laid off. The layoffs are due to state budget reductions; UT Southwestern faces a $31 million reduction in state funding per year, according to the news report. In addition, salaries have been frozen for those serving as associate vice president or associate dean and above.
