Black Hawk County Health Department director resigns

The director of Black Hawk County (Iowa) Public Health, Nafissa Cisse Egbuonye, PhD, is stepping down from her role as department head, according to a Sept. 19 news release.

Dr. Egbuonye has served in the role for six years, and her accomplishments include leading through restructuring and rebranding, in addition to becoming nationally accredited during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Dr. Egbuonye will vacate the position on Oct. 21 and is moving to an undefined leadership position with Molina Healthcare of Iowa. 

Black Hawk County Public Health was established in 1969 and was accredited by the National Public Health Accreditation Board in 2022.
