CEO Kenneth Paulus: Inspiring Growth at Allina Health

Kenneth Paulus has served as CEO of Minneapolis-based Allina Health since 2009.

Under Mr. Paulus' guidance, Allina Health has received many awards and recognition. Most recently, two of the health system's hospitals — Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn. — were ranked on U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals List for 2012.

Prior to Mr. Paulus' appointment as CEO, he served as COO of the health system. He was responsible for the operation of 11 hospitals and clinic groups, including Allina Medical Clinic, Aspen Medical Group and Quello Clinic. Mr. Paulus led numerous growth initiatives, including a number of joint ventures, partnerships and acquisitions.  

Before joining Allina Health in 2006, Mr. Paulus was president and CEO of Newton, Mass.-based HealthOne Care System, which was re-named Atrius Health in 2007. Previously, he served as COO of Boston-based Partners Community HealthCare. He has also served as COO of Alta Bates Medical Resources in Berkeley, Calif.

Mr. Paulus serves on the board of overseers for the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business in Minneapolis. He is a trustee with Hamline University in St. Paul and serves on the executive committee and board of directors for the Minnesota Hospital Association.
