CEO Judith Persichilli: Exceptional Service for Catholic Health East

Judith M. Persichilli, RN, BSN, MA, has served as president and CEO of Catholic Health East in Newton Square, Pa., since May 2010.

As president and CEO, Ms. Persichilli has introduced electronic health records to CHE and formed the CHE Ministry Leadership Academy with Seton Hall University — a program which grooms future Catholic healthcare leaders. Since she became CEO, Ms. Persichilli has also led the system to provide well over $300 million in community benefits to the ministries CHE serves.

Ms. Persichilli joined CHE in 2003 as executive vice president of the Mid-Atlantic Division. She was promoted to executive vice president of acute care for the system in 2008 and then to executive vice president and COO in December 2009 before assuming the role of CEO.

In 2006, Ms. Persichilli received the greatest tribute bestowed on a nurse in New Jersey when she was inducted into the New Jersey State Nurses Association Hall of Honor. She also received the Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton's (N.J.) highest honor when she was awarded The 2008 Richard J. Hughes Humanitarian Award.

In November 2011, Ms. Persichilli was awarded the 2011 Healthcare Innovation Award from UnitedHealthcare and the Philadelphia Business Journal. The award recognizes individuals and organizations who contribute to their community while navigating through challenging healthcare times. She was also awarded the Benemerenti Medal, a papal honor bestowed on her by Pope Benedict XVI, in recognition of her long service to the Catholic Church, her family and the community. Earlier this year, Ms. Persichilli was appointed to the American Hospital Association's Health Care Systems Governing Council.
