Since launching its beta program in September 2019, Amazon has scaled its virtual medical clinic Amazon Care for employees across the Seattle area.
Amazon Care offers virtual medical consultations with clinicians as well as in-person follow-up visits for company employees and their dependents. The virtual medical clinic works with Seattle-based medical practice Care Medical to provide services through the Amazon Care app and in-person.
Here are five features of the Amazon Care app:
1. Members in the Seattle area can use the app to connect with a clinician and request a flu shot at home for $25 per person. After the virtual visit with the care team member, a nurse is dispatched to the patient's home to administer the flu shot.
2. The app offers a text chat feature, which members can use to live chat with a clinician and ask for advice on any health topic including COVID-19.
3. The app's video care feature allows members to participate in a video visit with a clinician for advice, diagnoses, treatment or referrals for various conditions including allergies, cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms as well as trouble sleeping or managing stress.
4. The app also includes a Mobile Care feature where the clinician assessing the patient during a video visit can send a nurse to the patient's home or another private location to provide in-person services such as collecting lab samples, performing onsite testing, administering vaccines and performing certain physical examinations. This feature is currently available to members in the Seattle area.
5. Members can also activate prescription delivery through the app; with the feature, Amazon Care will deliver prescribed medications to the member's home or office. This feature is currently available to members in the Seattle area.
