Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, unionized workers finalize 3-year contracts

Unionized healthcare workers ratified labor deals with New London, Conn.-based Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, reports The Day.

The three-year contracts cover about 1,700 L+M healthcare workers, including registered nurses and technicians. The workers are represented by affiliates of the Connecticut chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, and have a current contract that expires in June 2019.

Under the new contracts, unionized workers are slated to receive a 2 percent pay increase annually over three years, with the potential for the increase to go to 3 percent, according to the report. The new agreements, which run from June 2019 through June 30, 2022, also include an automatic retirement plan enrollment for new employees, according to AFT Connecticut spokesperson Matt O'Connor.
