King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services has acquired the Danshell Group, which owns 25 facilities that provide disability and autism services in the U.K.
Here are three things to know about the deal:
1. UHS acquired the facilities through its U.K. subsidiary Cygnet Health Care. Cygnet will operate the facilities and their 288 total beds.
2. "The acquisition of Danshell expands our network of services in the U.K., enabling us to deliver superior quality care to more people," Alan B. Miller, chairman and CEO of UHS, said in a news release. "The facility locations are an excellent geographical fit and their services are complementary to our existing portfolio."
3. UHS operates more than 326 acute care hospitals and behavioral health facilities in the U.S. and the U.K. The company ended the second quarter of 2018 with net income of $226.1 million on revenues of $2.7 billion.
