Louisiana Children's Could Take Over LSU Public Hospital by June

Louisiana Children's Medical Center in New Orleans could take over the management of Interim LSU Public Hospital, also in New Orleans, by June 24, according to a report by The Times-Picayune.

The LSU board of supervisors had approved memorandums of understanding for partnerships for three hospitals in the LSU Hospital System, including Interim LSU Public Hospital, in December 2012.

Children's is also going to take over the $1.1 billion state hospital, University Medical Center in New Orleans, which is still under construction.

The deal could be ready for approval by state boards as early as next month and this means that employees of the public hospital could receive layoff notices over the next two months, according to the report.
