LSU Health Sciences Center, Medicare Advantage Plan Launch Center for Healthcare Advancement

Peoples Health, a physician-owned Medicare Advantage organization serving southeast Louisiana, and New Orleans-based LSU Health Sciences Center announced the creation of the Center for Healthcare Advancement to improve care for Peoples Health Medicare Advantage plan members.

LSUHSC includes a school of medicine, a school of dentistry, a school of public health and schools of allied health professions, nursing and graduate studies. The partnership with Peoples Health is designed to enhance care for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries by leveraging LSUHSC's research, which will help providers develop best practices, according to the news release.

The Center for Healthcare Advancement will implement chronic care programs for Peoples Health plan's nearly 55,000 members. LSUHSC will collect data from these programs to guide care improvement. Peoples Health will compensate LSU Medical School physicians for serving as consultants in the program.
