University Hospitals expands reach with addition of Samaritan Regional Health

Ashland, Ohio-based Samaritan Regional Health System, a single-hospital system, is now part of Cleveland-based University Hospitals. To reflect the integration with UH, the 55-bed hospital will be called University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

To grow Samaritan's clinical programs, UH will provide technology and strong clinical research, among other initiatives.

"We look forward to growing and enhancing Samaritan's services and programs to continue their long-standing tradition of providing patient-focused, superior-quality healthcare close to home," said Thomas F. Zenty III, CEO of UH.

Samaritan President and CEO Danny Boggs also has a positive outlook on the hospital's future as part of UH. "Integrating into the University Hospitals system will further strengthen Samaritan and help us sustain our mission to provide high-quality patient-centered healthcare to our patients and the communities that we serve," he said.

With the addition of Samaritan, UH includes 16 hospitals and has more than 26,000 employees.
