University of Louisiana officials to move forward with plans for medical school

The University of Louisiana at Monroe may be getting its own medical school, according to KAQY-8 News.

Nick Bruno, PhD, president of ULM, said the university signed a nonbinding agreement with an undisclosed private university to bring a private college of osteopathic medicine to the Monroe campus, according to the report.

Dr. Bruno said details such as students' tuition and the location of the school have not yet been determined. The program's inaugural class will reportedly begin in fall 2019.

Officials also said the program will create more than 100 jobs and lead to an influx of approximately 400 students, according to the report.
