Here are seven things to know about Mr. Sexton.

1. He is Holy Cross Health's longest-serving president and CEO.

3. During Mr. Sexton's tenure, Holy Cross Health has been designated a "Best Place to Work" by the Maryland Work Life Alliance every year since 1999, and was designated as a "Top Performer on Key Quality Measures" by The Joint Commission, the only hospital in Maryland to receive that designation for 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, according to a news release.

4. Mr. Sexton reorganized Holy Cross Health in anticipation of the 2014 opening of Holy Cross Germantown (Md.) Hospital. Holy Cross Health also recently completed a major expansion at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring and opened its fourth health center in Germantown.
