Cancer Treatment Centers of America taps former Optum SVP as CEO: 6 points

Boca Raton, Fla.-based Cancer Treatment Centers of America appointed Pat A. Basu, MD, president and CEO, effective April 1.

Six points:

1. Dr. Basu was previously a partner at Chicago Pacific Founders Private Equity and at Pritzker Group Venture Capital.

2. He also has experience serving on the executive leader team at UnitedHealth Group and as senior vice president at Optum

3. He helped start Doctor On Demand, a provider of telehealth video visits.

4. He formerly practiced medicine at Stanford (Calif.) University Medical Center.

5. Dr. Basu has also served as a White House fellow and senior advisor.

6. He succeeds Rajesh K. Garg, who stepped down from the position in July 2018.
