Atrium CEO gets biggest pay boost since taking role

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health paid its CEO, Gene Woods, about $6.1 million in 2018, up 12 percent from the year prior, according to disclosures obtained by The Charlotte Observer.

Mr. Woods’ compensation package included a $1.7 million salary and $1.6 million cash bonus. Contributions to health benefits and cash awards for this performance make up the remainder.

Mr. Woods began working at the nonprofit health system in April 2016. The 2018 package represents his largest since he started at Atrium.

The health system told The Charlotte Observer it invested more than $100 million in its frontline employees, physicians and nurses. Atrium also raised minimum wage to $12.50.
