7 hospital, health system construction projects worth $300M or more

Below are seven hospitals or health systems that recently announced or completed construction projects worth more than $300 million in the last month, reported by Becker's Hospital Review.

1. Atrium Health to spend $1B on capital projects: 6 things to know
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health plans to spend more than $1 billion to upgrade and expand several facilities in its network, representing the largest capital investment in the health system's history. 

2. IU Health starts construction of $400M hospital, academic complex
Bloomington-based Indiana University Health began construction of its $400 million, 735,000-square-foot Regional Academic Health Center in June.

3. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta advances plan for $1.5B campus: 5 things to know
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta filed a letter of intent in June with the state of Georgia to obtain a certificate of need — the first step toward breaking ground on its proposed $1.5 billion construction project.

4. Essentia Health plans $800M expansion
Duluth, Minn.-based Essentia Health will invest $800 million to build a consolidated medical campus in Duluth, which will include a replacement hospital and outpatient surgery center.

5. Beth Israel releases details of 10-story, $534M inpatient facility
Boston-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will invest $534.4 million on the 10-story inpatient building at its Longwood Medical Center campus.

6. HCA's TriStar system rolls out $500M expansion plan
Brentwood, Tenn.-based TriStar Health, operated by Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, will invest $500 million over the next three years to expand or upgrade six facilities in Middle Tennessee.

7. Texas Health Resources plans historical $300M expansion
Arlington-based Texas Health Resources plans to invest $300 million in an expansion project at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth — the largest construction project in the health system's history.
