2 new leaders at St. James Mercy Hospital: 6 things to know

St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, N.Y., has announced an interim CMO and interim clinical director.

Raymond J. Mayewski, MD, was named interim CMO/medical director, succeeding John Carroll, MD, who stepped down effective May 31.

Neva Bossard, RN, was named interim clinical director and will assume leadership for nursing services and patient care services from Kathleen Brodbeck, RN, who is stepping down as CNO effective June 18. 

Here are seven things to know about Dr. Mayewski and Ms. Bossard.

1. Dr. Mayewski currently serves as vice president and CMO for StrongMemorialHospital and HighlandHospital, both in Rochester, N.Y., and will remain in that capacity.

2. Dr. Mayewski earned a bachelor’s degree from the PennsylvaniaStateUniversity in State College and a Doctor of Medicine degree from TempleUniversityMedicalSchool in Philadelphia.

3. Roger M. Oskvig, MD, will be on site weekly at SJMH providing support to Dr. Mayewski and the medical staff leadership transition, according to SJMH. Dr. Oskvig currently serves as professor of medicine with University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry. He also serves as attending physician with StrongMemorialHospital and chief documentation officer with Highland Hospital.

4. For the past year, Ms. Bossard has served as director of patient care services at SJMH.

5. Ms. Bossard first joined the SJMH in 2002 as a staff nurse. Since then, she has served in various nursing leadership roles.

6. Ms. Bossard earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from KeukaCollege in Keuka Park, N.Y., and a Master of Science in nursing from Minneapolis-based Walden University.
