Miami-based Jackson Health System recorded a small profit of $348,000 for December, after six months of losses, according to a Miami Herald report.
The small gain was attributed to employee furloughs, which saved the system $7.5 million, and an unexpected increase in sales tax revenue, according to the report.
The surplus gave the hospital 13 days cash on hand at the end of the month, compared to a projected four days.
