Howard University Proposes $1.1B Plan to Move Hospital

Howard University in Washington, D.C., has submitted a $1.1 billion plan to move its 479-bed hospital and the rest of its campus to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, which is being closed next year, according to a report by the Washington Post.

The new hospital would probably be financed through a partnership with a private hospital management company. The project would go through three phases from 2012-2017, according to the report.

The plan still needs the approval of the District of Columbia, which is taking over the Walter Reed property.
