7 of the 10 highest-paying U.S. jobs are in medicine

A recent Bankrate analysis of data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that seven of the 10 highest-paying U.S. jobs are in medicine and two are in dentistry.

Here are the jobs in medicine and dentistry with the highest average annual wage, according to the analysis.

Anesthesiologist — $258,100

Surgeons — $247,5201

Oral and maxillofacial surgeon — $233,900

Obstetrician/gynecologist — $222,400

Orthodontist — $221,390

Physicians and surgeons — $197,7002

General internist — $196,520​

Psychiatrist — $193,680

Family and general practitioner — $192,120

1 Surgeons includes physicians who treat diseases, injuries, and deformities by invasive, minimally-invasive or non-invasive surgical methods, but excludes oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

2 Physicians and surgeons includes all physicians and surgeons not listed separately by the BLS.
