Planned 3-Bed Hospital in Missouri to Expand to 100-150 Beds

The planned three-bed Black River Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo., which uses Surgery Center of Poplar Bluff as a foundation for renovations, will quickly be expanded to 100-150 beds, according to a Daily American Republic news report.

BRMC is a joint-venture between Poplar Bluff Medical Partners, which owns Surgery Center of Poplar Bluff, and Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., according to the news report. Mike Burcham, president and CEO of Poplar Bluff Medical Partners, said the three-bed hospital is projected to open by the end of this year, with hopes to open the full range hospital (with 100-150 more beds) within the following three years.
