Nurses File Complaint Against University of Michigan Health

The Michigan Nurses Association has filed a complaint alleging unfair labor practices at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, according to a Crain's Detroit Business report.

The complaint comes as the MNA is working to agree on a new contract for nurses at UMHS. The two parties have been working on a new contract since April. The nurses' previous contract expired last week, but nurses have continued to work as negotiations continue.

The complaint, filed on behalf of nurses conducting infusion therapy, alleges the health system changed the nurses' working hours without a contract change, which the MNA argues is a "direct violation" of the Michigan Public Employment Relations Act, according to the report.
