Missouri hospital to spend $52M on expansion

Lee's Summit, Mo.-based Saint Luke's East Hospital is spending $52 million to increase the facility's square footage by about 10 percent, The Kansas City Star reported Sept. 6.

The construction project is renovating 8 percent of the current space at the campus. The expansion will add three new operating rooms. Certain areas will be completed this fall and ready to see patients.

Additionally, the expansion allows the Women's Health East Campus to move from an off-campus location to the main campus.

"The addition will add capacity to existing programs such as general surgery, oncology, orthopedics and OB-GYN, as well as allow us to bring new programs to the campus, such as vascular and thoracic services," CEO of Saint Luke's South and East Region Bobby Olm-Shipman told the Star.
