AORN seeks comment on practices for cleaning surgical instruments, tissue management

Two new recommended practices from the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses are now online and available for public comment.

The AORN Recommended Practices for Cleaning and Care of Surgical Instruments and Powered Equipment is available for public comment through Aug. 24. They provide guidance for cleaning, selecting cleaning chemicals and determining water quality for surgical instruments.

The AORN Recommended Practices for Autologous Tissue Management is available for comment through Aug. 31. These practices guide the perioperative team on managing tissue like avulsed teeth, cranial bone flaps, parathyroid glands, skin and veins.
