Morehead Memorial Hospital in North Carolina Has No Plans to Sell

Although Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C., faces a $1.4 million operating deficit, CEO Carl Martin said there are no immediate plans to sell the hospital, according to a News & Record report.

The merger and acquisition market has been active in the North Carolina market as of late. The Federal Trade Commission recently cleared the merger between Greensboro-based Cone Health and Burlington-based Alamance Regional Medical Center, while Chapel Hill-based UNC Health Care System completed its deal to acquire Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir.

Mr. Martin told the News & Record the hospital's main priority is to be there for the community's patients, saying that all options are still open, but "there may be different models explored in the future."
