During an interview at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Tom Price, MD, director of the department of HHS, said that there are “no guarantees” that the Senate’s healthcare bill will protect all the people it aims to, according to The Hill.
Dr. Price said that the policy looks to make it easy for individuals to transition between Medicaid, Medicare and the individual markets, and “that nobody falls through those cracks, that it is a seamless transition. That doesn’t occur right now, but that’s the goal of the plan.”
According to estimates from the Congressional Budget Office, the House’s AHCA would lead to a loss of coverage for 23 million Americans, though the office has not yet released estimates on what the effects of the Senate’s bill will be.
