Unionized nurses at Corpus Christi (Texas) Medical Center hosted informational pickets during shift changes in efforts to raise awareness about "chronic understaffing," according to a Corpus Christi Caller-Times report.
The nurses and hospital management have been in negotiations since September 2010, with the latter arguing that staffing levels at the organization are sufficient, according to the report. Hospital management has put forth an offer to the nurses' staffing proposal, which is expected to be met with a counter offer.
In November, 87 percent of Corpus Christ Medical Center nurses voted to authorize a strike, if necessary.
