Nurses at Watsonville (Calif.) Community Hospital said they were barred from working yesterday after walking off the job and picketing on Tuesday, according to a San Jose Mercury News report.
The hospital’s management maintains nurses said the strike would go until Friday, whereas the nurses say Tuesday’s strike was only intended to last 24 hours. For now, the hospital is operating with the care of replacement nurses.
Nurses said they were striking to improve staffing and patient safety issues, including the hospital violating state mandated nurse-to-patient ratios.
