County Supervisors Approve Inova's Expansion Plans in Virginia With Stipulations

Inova Health System has received approval from Fairfax County's Board of Supervisors to proceed with expansion plans for Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Va., with some stipulations, according to a Washington Post report.

The supervisors unanimously approved the health system's plans for a $14 million expansion that would increase Inova Mount Vernon Hospital's bed capacity to 289 beds. In exchange for the approval, the health system has agreed to contribute $2 million in resolving expected traffic congestions issues for the neighboring Gum Springs community. Gum Springs and other community and public leaders would have a voice in that process.

In addition, the health system must return to the board throughout the expansion for additional approvals.
