Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine receives $3M state grant

The planned Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine campus in Elmira, N.Y. has received a $3 million economic development grant from the state of New York, according to the Star-Gazette.

The grant will go toward construction of a $20 million, 52,000-square-foot campus in downtown Elmira. The school already has campuses in Erie, Penn.; Bradenton, Fla.; and Greensburg, Penn. After three years, the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation approved the school's application for an Elmira campus in September.

"It has been welcoming to have the support of the Elmira community," said John M. Ferretti, president of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. "Now, with the financial support of the New York Regional Economic Council and Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo, we know we made the right decision by selecting Elmira for our new campus."
