Ninety hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council account for $18.4 billion in labor income in north Texas, as healthcare has become the second largest industry in the area, according to a DFWHC report.
The DFWHC Board of Trustees commissioned the report, which was developed by Gerald Doeksen, PhD, a regents professor at Stillwater-based Oklahoma State University.
The "The Economic Impact of the Member Hospitals of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council on the State of Texas and the Dallas-Fort Worth Area," found DFWHC-member hospitals generated 295,138 jobs in north Texas, an increase from 265,294 in 2013.
