Epic in the last 30 days

From developing over 60 generative AI models to making its software available on Apple platforms, here are 10 updates on Epic's operations, software products and partnerships reported by Becker's Hospital Review in March:

  1. Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Corewell Health told Becker's it will go live with its Epic ecosystem in July.

  2. Epic told Becker's is developing over 60 generative AI models to help with tasks such as denial and appeal letters, clinical documentation integrity, and emergency department discharges.

  3. A San Jose, Calif.-based Equinix data center used by Epic experienced a "power issue" that led to a brief outage March 20.

  4. Iowa City-based UI Health Care's new campus plans to go live with an Epic EHR system in May.

  5. Georgetown, S.C.-based Tidelands Health has completed its $40 million transition to an Epic EHR system.

  6. Epic is planning its sixth campus, which will have a fantastical theme and include office buildings designed to look like the "mountain valley home of the elves."

  7. Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare is one of the first health systems in the U.S. to implement Epic on a large scale on Mac platforms.

  8. Epic, Oracle, Meditech and CVS were among the organizations that pledged to commit to the Biden administration's "Enhancing Oncology Model," which is a part of the larger Cancer Moonshot initiative.
     
  9. CommonSpirit Health said it transitioned 45 outpatient departments across five hospital markets in Utah to an Epic EHR system.

  10. Irving, Texas-based Christus Health installed an Epic EHR system at six hospitals.
