Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare says its proposed new campus in an old Salt Lake City Sears location would be an "anchor" of the city as it awaits rezoning approval from the city council, ksl.com reported March 28.
Intermountain acquired the Sears building in 2021 and plans to turn it into an urban hospital. The Salt Lake City Zoning Commission voted 7-3 to give Intermountain's zoning request a favorable recommendation with the city council.
Heather Wall, CEO of Intermountain's Salt Lake City-based LDS Hospital, said that the new hospital could bring in 1,700 employees.
