Cheyenne Regional Medical Center to begin partnership search

Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center's board of trustees voted Jan. 27 to allow the hospital to search for a partner to execute a management services agreement with, according to the Wyoming Business Report.

Officials said potential partners must meet a host of criteria, including agreeing to maintain existing policies in place for employees and allowing all decisions regarding CRMC to continue to be made at the local level, according to the report.

Phyllis Sherard, PhD, vice president of population health and chief strategy officer of CRMC, told the Wyoming Business Report the agreement is "not a sale…[or] a merger of assets. It is a management services agreement."

CRMC officials are in the process of developing a "request for proposal" to send to interested hospitals and health systems in April. Officials said interested parties would need to return the proposals in May, according to the report.

Dr. Sherard told the Wyoming Business Report officials do not know how many replies they will receive, but expect at least five proposals from facilities that had previously contacted them regarding a potential affiliation.

Officials said they hope to finalize a partnership agreement in October.
