UnitedHealthcare Acquires Two Florida-Based Medicare Advantage Companies

UnitedHealthcare, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group — the largest insurer in the United States based on both enrollment and revenue — announced it will purchase Preferred Care Partners and Medica HealthCare Plans, two Florida-based Medicare Advantage health plans.

Preferred Care has roughly 50,000 MA members and 5,000 Medicaid members. Medica has roughly 35,000 MA beneficiaries and 7,200 Medicaid beneficiaries.

Terms of the deals were not announced. The acquisitions will be two separate transactions and are expected to close later this year, pending regulatory approval.

Earlier this month, UnitedHealthcare finalized its acquisition of XLHealth Corp., another Medicare Advantage company.
