Utah organ donors honored at holiday reception

Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Donor Services celebrated organ donors Dec. 18 by decorating a Christmas tree with handmade ornaments, according to Deseret News Utah.

The ornaments contained messages that paid homage to individuals who donated their organs to recipients on waiting lists.

According to the United Network for Organ Sharing, about 114,000 Americans are on waiting lists to receive an organ transplant. About 20 people die per day while waiting on the transplant list.
