Microsoft is partnering with Apollo Hospitals, a Chennai-based Indian hospital chain, to train its artificial-intelligence-powered cardiac prognosis model on a dataset of South Asian patients, Analytics India Magazine reported Jan. 3.
Previously, the company has partnered with American and European health systems to train the tool. However, South Asians are four times more likely to develop heart disease; with the new training, Microsoft aims to provide South Asian patients with a more accurate cardiac risk score.
This is not the first time Apollo has partnered with an American tech company. In February 2022, the health system collaborated with San Francisco-based 8chili to advance virtual reality in healthcare.
