Researchers with the Center for Applied Genomics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia have created an algorithm that will separate patients with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder alone from those with ADHD along with other conditions.
ADHD can be a complicated diagnosis because it exists on a spectrum and many patients with ADHD also have learning disorders, sleep disorders and anxiety, the hospital said in a July 13 news release. The CHOP researchers hope developing this algorithm will lead to more personalized treatment.
The algorithm has a positive predictive value of 95 percent for ADHD and 93 percent for controls.
