Illinois’ OSF HealthCare and Rockford Health System to Affiliate, Create New System

Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare and Rockford (Ill.) Health System are moving towards an “affiliation” that would combine the organizations as OSF Northern Region, according to a Rockford Register Star report.

The two organizations revealed they were researching a potential deal back in May. Although news was expected in the fall, due diligence took longer than expected and officials now hope to have the process completed by July.

OSF includes seven acute-care facilities, two long-term care facilities and two colleges of nursing.  It also includes a primary care physician network consisting of 148 primary care, specialty physicians, and mid-level providers. OSF is owned and operated by the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.

RHS includes the 396-bed Rockford (Ill.) Memorial Hospital along with outpatient clinics and a rehabilitation hospital.
