Munster Community Hospital Moves Ahead with $33M Expansion

Community Hospital in Munster, Ind., began a $33 million expansion project in January, which includes an expansion of its neurosciences units, four additional surgical suites, 27 same-day surgery beds, four GI suites, seven preoperative beds and four postoperative beds, according to a Munster Community report.

The neuroscience units will take over the vacated intermediate care unit. The expansion is designed to serve a larger number of spine, neurosurgery and stroke cases.

The project will also add floors to the hospital's Emergency Department Pavilion.

The entire project is tentatively slated for completion in January 2015.
