Nurses at Massachusetts's Saint Vincent Hospital Agree to Contract, Avert Strike

Nurses at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., have agreed to a three-year contract, averting a strike planned for Friday, according to a Boston Globe report.

The nurses, who are represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association, and hospital had disagreed over staffing levels. The agreement limits the number of patients cared for a time at five, down from the current level of six to seven.
The nurses are scheduled to ratify the contract next week.

Nurses at nearby Tufts Medical Center — who are scheduled to strike tomorrow — are reportedly nearing an agreement.
