HealthEast Care System Announces Leadership Changes

HealthEast Care System in St. Paul, Minn., has announced a major leadership shift in its corporate structure, according to a Star Tribune report.

As part of the leadership changes, effective July 1, the CEOs of three acute-care hospitals will take on broader organization roles, according to the report. The changes include:

• Scott North, current CEO of St. John's Hospital in St. Paul, will become responsible for operations at St. John's Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, which is also in St. Paul, and Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury, Minn.
• Tom Schmidt, current Woodwinds CEO, will become senior vice president of accountable care organization, clinics and outpatient services for HealthEast.
• Cathy Barr, CEO of Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, will become senior vice president of community services for the health system and president of Bethesda Hospital.
• July Schmidt, chief transformation officer for HealthEast, will become senior vice president and chief administrative officer.
• Roger Green, vice president of strategy, policy, marketing and communications for HealthEast will retire after serving for 38 years.
