July 9, 2017: Cerner Chairman and CEO Neal Patterson dies after an ongoing battle with soft tissue cancer.
Jan. 10, 2018: Cerner appoints Brent Shafer to replace Mr. Patterson as CEO.
Nov. 2, 2018: Cerner President Zane Burke, who was with the company for nearly 20 years, steps down from his post.
Jan. 15: Cliff Illig, co-founder and vice chairman of the board of directors at Cerner, retires from the company.
April 9: Per an agreement with its affiliate Starboard Value, Cerner overhauls part of its board of directors and welcomes the following new board members: John Greisch, R. Halsey Wise, Melinda Mount and George Riedel.
May 1: Julie Wilson, chief people officer of Cerner, announces her retirement, effective June 30.
July 8: Cerner announces that Medtronic veteran Tracy Platt will serve as the EHR vendor’s new executive vice president and chief human resources officer, effective July 15.
Sept. 10: Jeff Townsend, Cerner’s executive vice president and chief of innovation, announces he will retire by the end of 2019.
Sept. 16: Darrell Johnson joins Cerner as chief marketing officer, a newly created role at the company.
Nov. 4: A Securities and Exchange Commission filing reveals Michael Nill, COO at Cerner, will leave his position in January 2020.
